Hard landscaping is the construction section of the landscape process, these are the manufactured or natural elements such as paving or natural stone walls. There can be many hard landscape elements in a creative design like a patio/paved area, water feature, pergola etc.
The hard landscape elements are the starting blocks for any good design, they set out the shape, define spaces and create main focal points for the design which can be complemented by soft landscaping. The most important thing using hard landscape element is to get the balance just right.
Soft Landscaping is the final stage of the Landscape process for new landscape projects, this can be planting or laying the lawn for example. Clients Planting requirements may vary from client to client. Some plantings can be the planting stage for a new project to soften the design. Other plantings could be a hedge for screening, semi-mature tree planting to give a since of maturity to a garden, a new border planting to add to the garden or a complete garden make over which would consist of removing the existing planting and replanting it to rejuvenate the garden.
